For patients travelling from the Shire

CPAP and sleep testing for Sutherland Shire patients

Our only clinic is in Kogarah, not in the Shire, but it's a straightforward trip. Here's how Shire patients get to us for CPAP support, home sleep tests and lung function testing, and how to make the most of each visit.

Getting here by train

Kogarah station is on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line, the same line that serves the Shire. You don't need to change trains from either branch:

  • Cronulla branch: Cronulla, Woolooware, Caringbah, Miranda, Gymea and Kirrawee
  • Sutherland and the south: Sutherland, Jannali, Como and stations further south

Not every service stops at every station, so check the Transport NSW trip planner before you travel. From Kogarah station it's a short walk to our clinic on Belgrave Street.

Getting here by car

From most of the Shire there are two main routes north:

  • Via the Princes Highway and Tom Uglys Bridge: usually the simplest route from Sutherland, Kirrawee, Jannali and Como.
  • Via the Captain Cook Bridge and Rocky Point Road: often handy from Caringbah, Cronulla, Miranda and Taren Point.

Travel times vary a lot with traffic, so allow extra time in peak hour. See getting here for parking near the clinic.

Having a home sleep test from the Shire

A home sleep test means two short visits: an afternoon fitting, then returning the equipment the next morning. A few tips for Shire patients:

  • Ask for a fitting time that lets you get home before the evening traffic.
  • Plan the return trip for the next morning before you book, so you're not rushed.
  • Wear a button-up top so you can travel home comfortably with the sensors on.

CPAP support without lots of trips

We know travelling from the Shire takes time, so we try to make each CPAP visit count:

  • Bring everything: machine, mask, tubing, power cord and any spare cushions. That way we can sort out fit and settings in one visit.
  • Tell us about the problem when you book, so we have the right masks and parts ready to try.
  • [Clinic to confirm: phone or video check-ins, remote data reviews, and posting replacement masks and parts.]

Referrals from Shire GPs

Your local GP can refer you to us directly. We accept referrals from any doctor, wherever their practice is. GPs can download our forms from the page for doctors.

FAQs for Shire patients

Do you have a clinic in Miranda or anywhere in the Shire?

No. Our only clinic is in Kogarah. Many of our patients travel from the Shire, and Kogarah is on the same train line.

Is the home sleep test still bulk billed if I live in the Shire?

Yes. Where you live doesn't affect eligibility. You need a valid referral and to meet Medicare's criteria. See fees & Medicare.

Can you post CPAP masks and supplies to me?

[Clinic to confirm whether supplies can be posted, and any delivery cost.] For a new mask style, we recommend coming in for a fitting first.

Can I keep seeing my Shire GP?

Of course. Your results and summaries go back to your GP, who stays in charge of your care.
