Level 1 sleep study

In-Lab Sleep Testing

A Level 1 sleep study is the most detailed sleep test available. You spend the night in a sleep laboratory while a sleep scientist monitors your study in real time.

Overview

A Level 1 study records brain activity, eye and muscle movements, breathing, oxygen levels, heart rhythm, leg movements and body position, with video and a scientist watching throughout the night. Because the study is attended, sensors can be adjusted and any events noted as they happen.

In-lab studies are used when a home study is not suitable, when the diagnosis is unclear, or to find the right CPAP pressure under supervision. Studies take place at [LAB LOCATION].

Who it’s for

  • Suspected sleep disorders other than sleep apnoea, such as narcolepsy or parasomnias
  • Significant heart, lung or neuromuscular conditions
  • A home study that was inconclusive or could not be completed
  • CPAP titration studies to set your treatment pressure
  • Patients who need extra assistance overnight
